Dedicated to supporting companion animal care across Colorado

What we do

We support animal welfare organizations that help Colorado’s pets thrive through collaboration and grantmaking.

Why we do it

Colorado’s animal welfare organizations depend on strong community support to thrive—yet too often, they don’t receive enough. For 50 years, the Animal Assistance Foundation (AAF) has played a crucial role in bridging the gap. We partner with organizations to build their capacity, foster innovation, and provide critical aid during disasters and emergencies—ensuring the well-being of Colorado’s animals and the people who care for them.

We are dedicated to finding new solutions in the face of evolving challenges

Systemic issues such as the shortage of access to veterinary care, the overcapacity of shelters and rescues, and behavioral concerns in dogs negatively impact the welfare of animals across the state. The Foundation finds itself uniquely positioned to support shelters and lead on critical, root-cause issues that require community investment, collaboration, and leadership. We are proud to have funded more than 60 animal welfare programs across Colorado in 2024.

We facilitate collaboration, supporting animal welfare organizations that help Colorado’s pets thrive

The Foundation seeks out partners throughout Colorado, supporting pet animal shelters and rescue organizations, and professional animal care and control organizations.

For 50 years, AAF has been a consistent presence and supporter of innovation in improving the state of animal welfare in Colorado.

“The Foundation is so supportive of so many organizations across the state. They have a fabulous reach across all shelters. AAF really knows them and are able to give them what they need.”
